South Africans lead the race for winners
10 HOT JOCKEYS
* Practical Punting Monthly, Australia’s leading horseracing magazine
A jockey, however, might go cold as quickly as he goes hot. The game’s like that. Full of quirks. The unexpected.
Current hottest jockeys in Sydney are the South African duo Jeff Lloyd and Glyn Schofield. Lloyd’s style is reminiscent of Mick Dittman. He’s the new Enforcer.
In the three weeks to February 24, the following jockeys were “hot” according to Racenet website.

Over 12 months the picture is much different, and it’s probably these statistics which make the most sense as far as punting is concerned.

As you can see, the amazing Brad Rawiller has cleared away from the pack with 179 winners (up to the end of February). This is sensational stuff, and puts him 38 winners ahead of his closest rival.
Greg Ryan is down there in fourth place. His tally has dropped off this season. He had a period of some years when he would streak clear of the field, but now he’s well down on 111 winners, a mile behind Brad Rawiller.
Odd, isn’t it, that Brad gets all the winners and yet it’s
his brother Nash who has been winning all the Group 1 glory with Gai Waterhouse in
Nash’s 12 month record shows 92 winners. That’s a long way behind brother Brad.
By prizemoney earnings, it’s Michael Rodd who is showing the way.

Here we see that Nash Rawiller is in #8 slot, and Brad’s nowhere in sight. In fact, he’s not that far behind, in 12th place.
By rides alone, the top 100 is headed by Craig Newitt with an extraordinary 1,047 rides, followed by Chris Symons with 999 rides, and then there’s Brad Rawiller on 973 rides.
