Promotion & Relegation ~ Blue Square Conference
The following are my Promotion & Relegation predictions for the forthcoming English football season (2008/09). These predictions cover the English professional divisions,ie, Premiership to Division two as well as the Blue square Premier League.
Explanations these predictions are to be found at the end of this article.
Blue square Conference 2008/9:
Champions: Cambridge United 10/1 with Blue Square
Playoffs: York City, Torquay, Mansfield & Burton Albion (Winners: Burton Albion)
Relegated: Grays Athletic, Altrincham, Lewes & Northwich Victoria
Reasons for the above predictions:
Blue square Conference: (Champions):
Cambridge United:
Cambridge United will be one of a handful of ex league clubs that will be vying for promotion back to the league. 5th division anyone? Cambridge will pip the others after last years heartbreak in the playoffs.
Torquay United, York City, Mansfield Town & Burton Albion will make up the playoffs with only Burton being the odd one out as having never played in the football league. Burton have one advantage over the rest though and that is Nigel Clough who has improved his sides position each season since he got them promoted to this level.
The four sides I have picked for relegation are all part time and that is becoming a massive handicap in a division that is becoming the 5th division in all but name. so goodbye to:
Grays’s Athletic, Altrincham, Lewes and Northwich Victoria.
