Chelsea Disciplined

Chelsea and Arsenal disciplined but why them?

by Doug Martin

Last week in the Champions league qualifier between Arsenal and Celtic Arsenal opened the scoring in the first half with a penalty. What caused debate and over reaction by the media was that Arsenal's forward Eduardo obviously dived to win the penalty. I can't be bothered to point out that if the TV camera's had not been there then we would hardly even know about it. Arsenal went onto win 3-1 on the night and five one on aggregate. A few days later that well known footballing body with a wonderful reputation, UEFA, decided to investigate. The result is a two match ban for Eduardo in the champions league.

I find this very disturbing for several reasons. The first and most obvious is why Arsenal? Every team in Europe let alone England has had a player who has tried to win a penalty through deception at some point in the last ten years, so why pick on Arsenal? Could it be that Arsenal have a team that looks really good this season and look set to challenge the major clubs for domestic and European glory and therefore are a threat to Manchester United and Real Madrid which means that they have to be stoped ? The money men in control in my point of view are corrupt and in order to keep as much money coming in through TV and advertising contracts they need Manchester United with their massive part time fan base to keep winning. Manchester United have been getting dreadful penalty decisions for years, especially when Ronaldo played for them. Nobody in the media went overboard regarding his cheating displays. In the Sunday times this week they had a graph showing the players who dive for their clubs and a small picture of Eduardo diving in the game against Celtic. This implies that they are the worst culprits. This is simply not true. Of course I don't need to mention that Rupert Murdoch owns the Sunday times, Sky and has shares in Manchester United do I?

Last Saturday as I predicted, the referee had a massive helping hand in Manchester United beating Arsenal at Old Trafford (again). I won't go into the decisions too much but all I want to say is why is it that time and time again in this fixture are United given the decisions that affect the result and not Arsenal? All I am asking is that there is fairness to both sides. The even worst thing is that the same referee is awarded this game and keeps making these decisions. There is no other conclusion to come to that the Referee and the people who appoint him are bent.

A few days after the game Sky news asked some Manchester united fans outside Old Trafford what they thought of Arsene Wenger being sent to the stands towards the end of the game on Sat. With a sicking predictability they all said he deserved the punishment. Did it occur to Sky to ask some neutral fans of other clubs what they thought or how about a bit of fairness and ask some Arsenal fan's? Dreadful Bias.

What is really bad is that Alex Ferguson is the most bad tempered jerk off pitch. He has a record of constantly intimidating officials and complaining of bad decisions against his players when everybody bar part time Manchester United fans know that the complete opposite is true. Funny that the media don't represent that view point.

Also funny that no one even asked why the game was being played after Arsenal had played in midweek against Celtic and United had not played at all? Not that I am saying that the powers that be were attempting to give Manchester a slight advantage.

Earlier this week Chelsea had their punishment. They have had a transfer ban put in place by FIFA (another corrupt Football body) after being found guilty of illegal transfer procedures. I suspect that like Arsenal Chelsea are guilty but the question is still the same, why Chelsea and why now and also why are all other clubs ignored. Manchester United behave just as badly as the other clubs in the transfer market, who can forget Jonathan Greening asking to leave old Trafford to go to Middlesbrough and Ferguson saying that he would only let him go if he used his son as his agent even though he knew that Greening had an agent already. Didn't know that one did you?

It is more than coincidence that the two clubs who stand the best chance of beating Manchester United to honours this season have been handicapped in their attempt to do so. Too many people have vestige interests in Manchester United continuing to stay at the top of the tree and the media knows it. The powers that be are deliberately attempting to find skeletons in Chelsea's and Arsenal's cupboards in order to help Manchester. If I thought they were doing for the right reasons to rid the game of Corruption and cheating then I would applaud their actions but of course they won't be looking in “The Theatre of Dreams” for any skeletons. Too many people would not like what they would find.

All my own opinion.
