Football League Predictions for Promotion & Relegation 2009/10 Season by Doug Martin
- Review of my 2009/2010 Season tips for all 5 English Divisions by Doug Martin
- Wed, 19 May 2010 10:10:00 EDT - As you can see it was better in the conference. I came very close with my Luton prediction but they just got pipped by Stevenage & then lost to York in the playoffs. My prediction of Oxford going up through the playoffs proved correct as well. At the bottom I correctly predicted Grays Athletic demise as well as Chester’s who sadly went bust towards the end of the season. That is a story of greed & corruption that I have I’m afraid not got the time to discuss here.
- Season Predictions ~ Premier League Promotion &Relegation predictions for 2009/10
- Sun, 28 Mar 2010 10:38:00 EDT - Another predictable top four in the Premiership I’m afraid with Chelsea replacing Manchester United at the top of the greed tree. Really big surprise that the top three clubs are all owned by unpleasant people. Who says that money attracts crap, err, me. Too early for Manchester City to break into the top four yet but next season I suspect they will at the expense of Arsenal, who are the most Vulnerable financially & Liverpool who have the worst manager. I predicted that Liverpool would win nothing under their manager last season & I am going to predict the same this year. Liverpool somehow managed to challenge Manchester United for the title last season and come second but I feel they flattered to deceive. I feel that Chelsea will win the title simply because they have retained their players unlike Manchester who have lost several key players the most notable being Ronaldo (thank god he’s gone).
- Championship Football ~ Pre season Predictions 2009/10
- Sun, 28 Mar 2010 10:38:00 EDT - I feel that WBA have the players & with the impetus of a new manager will bounce straight back. Wether they will stay up the following season is a rather more difficult question. After losing the playoff final last season I feel that Sheffield United will come runners up. This I feel is the only way they are going to go up rather then through the playoffs because they will never go up through the playoffs until hell freezes over, so this season then to make my prediction look stupid. Being a massive Brian Clough fan is probably allowing my heart to rule my head but I feel that Derby County will get promoted through the playoffs.
- League One Football ~ Pre season Predictions 2009/10
- Sun, 28 Mar 2010 10:36:00 EDT - In the relegation battle I feel that Swindon have been in decline for some years now & they will go down like a lead brick. Exeter like Hereford last season will find two promotions in quick succession too much and fall straight back down taking Carlisle & Brighton with them. That is very hard on Brighton as they have been treated very badly in trying to build a new ground, ie, it taking too long which has forced them to play at a pretty bad temp ground
- League Two Football ~ Pre season Predictions 2009/10
- Sun, 28 Mar 2010 10:35:00 EDT - A five nil thrashing of Bradford in their first game bodes well for Notts County & I think they will benefit from a massive injection of confidence with the arrival of Sven. Bournemouth did really well to stay up last year after their point’s deduction. They will carry on their fine form and claim promotion. Rotherham are another club who did bloody well despite a points deduction (a familiar story) & would have made the playoffs if it wasn’t for their punishment.
- Blue Square Conference ~ Pre season Predictions 2009/10
- Sun, 28 Mar 2010 10:34:00 EDT - I will be amazed if Luton fail to get promotion. They shouldn’t even be in the conference & wouldn’t if it wasn’t for the nastiness of the football authorities in punishing them for the misdemeanours of a bunch of tosspots. Oxford had a really good second half of the season & again if they hadn’t of had point deductions would have made the playoffs.
