Hungarian Grand Prix Prediction
The McLaren driver was quickest in practice this morning ahead of Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix and he appears to be in fantastic shape to be on the podium once again, at the very least.
With Sebastian Vettel feeling the pressure more so than ever before in the 2011 campaign, Hamilton appears to have turned on the style just at the right time. He isn’t the sort of driver you want on your tail, no doubt about that.
The 26-year-old is perhaps excelling at a time where his Championship chances have been written off. He is having to take it race by race and this seems to suit his attacking mentality.
Hamilton is all about winning races in an aggressive manner. Getting over the line first, no matter what the means in doing so, is the most important thing. He was at his very best in Germany and should be backed to repeat this on Sunday.
This is partly because he seems mentally positive right now and very content with his form. It has been a difficult few months for him, with mixed results, but this is when he needs to cash in.
Hamilton is the most naturally aggressive driver on the grid and this, combined with the slight dip in fortunes for Vettel, means that he is the man to beat at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Vettel is of course favourite to secure the win. The German is still 77 points ahead of his rivals in the driver standings after all and many believe he will bounce back from his disappointing 4th placed finish in his home Grand Prix.
Hamilton is the man to look out for though. As ever, if he has a good race, the entertainment on show will be all the better for it.
Elsewhere, there are plenty of drivers in search of a podium finish this weekend. As well as Vettel and Hamilton, Red Bull’s Mark Webber is still looking for his first win of the season, while Fernando Alonso will be looking to continue his recent resurgence.
There is then Jenson Button to consider. The McLaren driver hasn’t even finished the last two races, so he will be hoping for a more successful weekend.
Finally, there is an interesting sub-plot to this Sunday’s race. Felipe Massa was seriously injured in Hungary two years ago and he will be making an emotional return to the scene of the accident.
All eyes should remain on Hamilton though. He is always at the centre of what is fascinating about Formula 1 and is in with a fantastic chance of securing back to back Grand Prix victories.
