Marco Reus Germany are going to win this summer's European Championships. Well, that is if you believe the players of the German Bundesliga, that is.

In a poll of almost 230 players in the league, 67.8 per cent of the players asked by Kicker magazine said they thought odds on germany euro 2012 wise were the ones to back.

That is compared to just 24 per cent who voted in favour of the holders and World Cup winners Spain.

Indeed, the two sides met one another in the semi-final stage of the World Cup in South Africa back in 2010, with Spain coming out on top.

But Germany put up a good fight, and their impressive displays against the likes of Argentina and England in the earlier rounds proved what they were all about.

Many had doubted them going into the tournament, with most of their older star players having retired or been omitted from the squad. Joachim Low decided to put his faith in the younger players instead.

It almost paid off, with their performances of players such as Mesut Özil, Jérôme Boateng and Sami Khedira catching the eye of some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Since then many of the players have gone on to earn big money moves to Champions' League sides, and there is no doubt that they will be even better for it.

Germany's players are all currently in the middle of their winter break, with games set to resume on Friday.

More than 80 per cent of players said they felt it would be Bayern Munich who would win the Bundesliga title this season.

The player who was perceived to have made the biggest breakthrough in the first part of the season was Borussia Monchengladbach star Marco Reus, who received 40.9 per cent of the vote.

Reus has, in the opinions of many, been the main reason for Borussia's remarkable turn around in fortunes. Last season they narrowly avoided relegation, but currently find themselves fourth in the table.

The 22-year-old has already won three caps for Germany and agreed a deal to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer for a figure believed to be almost £15 million.
