PGA TOUR Money List

Take Johnson at 40/1 for US Money List

You will have to wait a full year for the outcome of this event but I advise you take the 40-1 on the golfer that has a great chance of pushing Tiger the closest on the PGA Tour in 2008. BODOGLIFE is the only bookmaker offering this great price so you better get on now before it disappears. Here is a list of last year's top 9 golfers who trailed in the wake of Tiger's brilliance and dominance.

1) Phil Mickleson ($5.8m) ended the year with a surprise snub of the newly formed FedEx Cup but still managed a 3rd place after playing 3 of the qualifying tournaments. He played 22 events last year as an injury forced him to sit on the sidelines for many weeks. Family and business interests may restrict him to a similar number of tournaments next season so the unpredictable talent is not for us.

2) Vijay Singh ($4.7m) played more tournaments than anybody in the top 10 despite his advancing years. He remains in great shape but surely his age will catch up with him soon. I predict less tournaments and less magic from the Fijian in 2008.

3) Steve Stricker ($4.6m) had an unbelievable season. His easy swing led him to some big pay days but I do not think he will repeat in 2008.

4) K J Choi ($4.6) seems to be there or thereabouts in competition after competition. He will likely be in the top 10 next season but lacks the cutting edge that one needs to close out competitions and stay close to the big names.

5) Rory Sabbatini ($4.5m) is my second choice and is also available at 40-1 in places. This gifted South African could have an even bigger year so you may want to cover your main investment with a few pennies on the 31 year old from Durban. He showed up 23 times (won once) and could well increase his appearances in 2008.

6) Jim Furyk ($4.2m) just can't keep up with the long hitters these days and even though the old timer is as straight as an arrow, something has left his game in the past 24 months. A few top tens will pay the mortgage in 2008 but don't expect too much from the American.

7) Zach Johnson ($3.9m) has bags of talent. He can fight it out with the big guns and has great figures for accuracy and putting. The 31 year old from Iowa City is set for a big season at a big price. He will probably increase his appearances on the tour from 23 in 2007 and I predict he will bag more wins (2 in 2007) in 2008.

8) Sergio Garcia ($3.7m) only appeared in 19 competitions on the U.S. tour but will still play some European tour games in 2008 so is unlikely to do any better in 2008, especially now he has lost his new found confidence in his belly putter. He still lacks the maturity and the psychological steadfastness required to be consistent so we'll take a pass on the Spaniard.

9) Aaron Baddeley ($3.4m) still has a lot to prove and needs to show more resilience when in the big tournaments. He will probably win an odd tournament but it will only be when the big guns are resting.
