Never Been a Better Time to Play Chelsea
Tottenham v Chelsea – Kick-off: Wed 19 March 20:00
A series of shock results for the blues, including conceding a goal at home to Derby County, compounded with a suspect package addressed to Mr Grant. This has made for a period of turmoil.
Avram Grant is said to have received death threats for a second time along with a mysterious packet of white powder. We all know it's probably a sympathy letter from the F.A thrown in with some cocaine for good measure. Let's be honest, if you've seen your team knocked out of two competitions in the space of 3 weeks and managed to concede a goal at home to Derby, who would reject the white powder? No doubt he'll have a cheeky sniff at Chelsea's CCTV infested training ground.
Spurs, however, haven't exactly been firing on all cylinders themselves. The heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat in Holland appeared to take its toll on them in the second half of Sunday's defeat at the City of Manchester Stadium. Robbie Keane's reaction to his substitution, like an angry child who didn't receive his Buzz Lightyear for Christmas, can't have helped.
This will be a fiercely competitive fixture as it always is; Chelsea all out for revenge and to maintain their challenge on the Gooners and the Mancs at the top. Spurs, of course, have their pride to play for having secured European football for next season and a high league position out of the question. If Berbatov can trouble John 'I love myself' Terry and the defence and midfield can combine to stop Frank 'Lamplard' shooting on sight, then there is a possibility of gradually putting the Chelsea hoodoo to an end. Any Spurs fans that will be in attendance at the Lane should bring some snipers along. We really need to give Didier 'Swan-Lake' Drogba a reason to go down as if he's been shot.
Sadly, I can see Chelsea nicking this one, using their hypocritical tactic of scoring one goal, parking their bus in front of the goal and hoping for the best.
500/1 on Chimbonda taking a penalty… anyone?
