Weekend Premiership Predictions & Correct Score Football Tips for 6th/7th February 2010
Best Predicted result of the previous week: “Birmingham & Tottenham drawing 1-1” & “Hull Drawing at Home with Wolves”
Hello again everyone. I correctly predicted 5 out of 10 results last time out as well as 1 correct Result. The correct score was Birmingham drawing 1-1 at home with Spurs. My other correct results were Chelsea winning at Burnley, Hull drawing at home with Wolves, Manchester City beating Portsmouth & Everton beating Wigan away. This keeps my Prediction rate at 53%. Let’s hope I can get it a bit higher with this weekends fixtures. Just a quick note regarding Liverpool & Manchester United’s wins against Bolton & Arsenal respectively. Depressing.
Good luck again.

Manchester United have returned to form which I find bloody depressing. They had a great 3-1 win at Arsenal on Sunday which in my mind makes the title race a two horse race between Chelsea & Manchester United. United are now only 1 point behind Chelsea but Chelsea play their game in hand away to Hull on Tuesday which I expect them to win. Portsmouth are five points adrift at the bottom of the table after losing at Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday. Their off the field problems have been well documented elsewhere & there can be no question that its is having an effect on the pitch with most of their best players having left or want to. I’m sure that if they are relegated then there will probably be no players left from the side that won the FA Cup only two seasons ago. A very easy game to predict. A home win with the only question as to how many goals United will score in their victory.
Result Prediction: An easy home win for Manchester United
Score Prediction: Manchester United 4 Portsmouth 0

Burnley lost to Chelsea as I predicted for only their second home defeat of the season. Normally this would be ok but as their away form is so bad (1 point away all season) they are third from bottom in the table, one point adrift of Wolves. This is a game that they really have to win as West Ham are only one point above them in 15th place. West ham had a very bad 0-0 draw at home with Blackburn on Saturday which means that this game has become slightly more important for them. West ham drew their last away game at Portsmouth 1-1 & before that they drew at Aston Villa 0-0, so their recent away form is not too bad. Earlier in the season beat Burnley at Home (who hasn’t?). A score draw for me this game which will be more of a useful result for West Ham than Burnley.
Result Prediction: A score draw
Score Prediction: Burnley 1 West Ham 1

Stoke got a useful point away at Sunderland on Monday night in a 0-0 draw. They are still 12th in the table, only 1 point behind falling Fulham. Stoke are now on a good run since beating York City in the FA Cup third round in early January. They have beaten Fulham in the League as well as Arsenal in the Forth round of the FA Cup, as well as a home draw with Liverpool in the League. Blackburn are above Stoke in the table having had a good run themselves. They drew 0-0 at West Ham after winning their two previous home games against Wigan & Fulham. Stoke could overtake Blackburn if they manage a win in this game & this is what they will do. Don’t think it will be a very good game to watch though. You might get a sore neck.
Result Prediction: A Stoke win
Score Prediction: Stoke 2 Blackburn 0

Sunderland need a win, especially after their 0-0 draw at home with Stoke on Monday night. They are now only three points above the relegation places, mainly due to their dreadful away record which was confirmed by their 2-1 & 2-0 defeats at Portsmouth (FA Cup) & Everton prior to the 0-0 draw on Monday. I won’t even mention the 7-2 thrashing at Chelsea to prove my point that Sunderland are on a really bad run. Thankfully for them Wigan are arriving in town on Saturday which could be a godsend. Wigan’s away form as most people know is pretty dreadful. They “Only” managed to lose 2-1 at Blackburn last time out away but then lost at home to Everton on Saturday. Amazingly, they have managed the odd victory on the road, including Burnley, Wolves & the best Aston Villa on the opening day of the season. On the flip side they have lost at Spurs 9-1, Manchester United 4-0 & worst of all in my point of view Portsmouth 4-0. A home win for Sunderland.
Result Prediction: A Sunderland win (at last)
Score Prediction: Sunderland 2 Wigan 1

Liverpool are now up to 5th which considering their bad results so far is a miracle. They beat Bolton 2-0 at home on Saturday & it is their home form that is keeping them so high in the table as apposed to their performances. With nothing to play for other than a forth placed finish they might be able to achieve just that. Everton won away at Wigan on Saturday (as I predicted) & apart from their FA Cup defeat at home to Birmingham are having a good run. They are now unbeaten in 9 League games & have moved up to ninth in the table. Both sides will go into this game in confident mood of winning & it is because of this that I predict a Score draw which will go down better in the Blue half of the city then the Red side. Still thnk Liverpool’s manager is a tosser though.
Result Prediction: A score draw
Score prediction: Liverpool 1 Everton 1

By the time you read this I predict that Hull will have lost at home to Chelsea on Tuesday night & further cemented their place in the bottom three having played a game more than their rivals. Their previous result of drawing with relegations rivals Wolves 2-2 the previous Saturday has not helped their cause either. They are not in a good position & this confirms my early season prediction of them being relegated by the end of the season. Manchester City meanwhile picked themselves up after losing out in the League cup semi finals to arch rivals Manchester United to beat Portsmouth 2-0. That win takes them to 6th place in the table behind Spurs by just the one point. Personally I think they will make forth position come the end of the season at Liverpool & others expense. Their run to forth place will continue at Hull with another win for them. Still think Hull should have sacked their manager when they had reason because he will take them down.
Result Prediction: Manchester City to win
Score Prediction: Hull 1 Manchester City 3

Bolton are still out of the relegation places despite their 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday. They now face a Fulham side who have now lost five league games on the trot. To be fair they lost at home to a good Aston Villa side on Saturday 2-0 but it is their away form that is letting them down. I do feel however that they will turn the corner & will not get caught up in a relegation battle. Despite all this I feel they will lose this game as they have already lost at Wolves, Birmingham, Blackburn, etc, etc. In fact they have not won away in the league since their opening day win at Portsmouth. A much needed home win for Bolton then & they will stay up at Burnley’s expense which won’t go down well at Turf moor.
Result Prediction: A Bolton win
Score Prediction: Bolton 2 Fulham 1

Aston villa had a great 2-0 win at Fulham on Saturday which has kept them in contention for a forth place finish. They are still 7th but two points behind Tottenham. This therefore makes this game very interesting. Spurs conceded a late goal to draw 1-1 at Birmingham on Saturday but it was still a point that keeps them in forth place albeit by only the one point ahead of Liverpool & Manchester City. Villa as mentioned previously have reached the League cup Final where they will play Manchester United as well as the fifth round of the FA Cup. Spurs drew their last home game 0-0 with Hull city which would suggest that spurs have some problems in certain games breaking sides down. That I think will happen against Villa who have a much better attacking options then relegated bound Hull City. A Villa win & A very important one as well.
Result Prediction: A Villa win
Score Prediction: Spurs 1 Villa 2

Birmingham recovered from their first defeat in three months at Chelsea to snatch a late goal to draw with Spurs on Saturday. They are still in the FA Cup having had a very impressive win at Everton in the Previous round. Birmingham are still 8th but six points behind the other sides above them. No matter, they are having a excellent season after such a bad start. Wolves meanwhile have recovered from a bad run to draw at home with Liverpool & away at Hull City last Saturday which was a game they really couldn’t afford to lose. Earlier in the season & at the start of Birmingham’s run Wolves lost at home to them 1-0. A similar result for this game to put more pressure on wolves at the bottom of the table.
Result Prediction: A Birmingham win
Score Prediction: Birmingham 2 Wolves 1

Chelsea are looking really good to win the Premiership title after winning again, this time 2-1 at Burnley on Saturday. They should have won at Hull on Tuesday night which will mean that they four points ahead of Manchester United & seven ahead of Arsenal. Arsenal are out of the title race as far as I am concerned after they lost at Home to Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday. This means that they have lost all three games against Chelsea & Manchester United this season. I expect them to lose this game as well & therefore make it four defeats out of four. A shame because as far as I am concerned Arsenal play the better football. The only drawback to Chelsea winning the title ahead of Manchester United is that we will get the site of “John Terry” lifting the premiership trophy. Aarh…..
Result Prediction: A Chelsea win
Score Prediction: Chelsea 2 Arsenal 1
