Premiership Predictions & Correct Score Football Tips for 9th/10th February 2010
Best Predicted result of the previous week: “Birmingham beating Wolves 2-1 (correct score) & Chelsea beating Arsenal”
Hello again everyone. I correctly predicted four out of 10 results & got 1 correct score line. The one correct scoreline I got was Birmingham beating Wolves 2-1 (my 15th correct league score of the season) on Sunday & the other correct results correctly predicted were Manchester United beating Portsmouth’s Reserve side, Chelsea beating Arsenal & lastly Stoke beating Blackburn. My correct scorelines are now looking good for the season & are going up. Onto this weeks round of mid-week matches before the weekends FA Cup Fixtures. Good luck & let’s hope for Liverpool to go back to their pre season form.
Good luck again.
Match 1: Fulham - Burnley: (Tuesday February 9th 8pm):
Both sides gained much needed wins last week. First, Burnley won for the first time since early November to beat West Ham at home 2-1 & then Fulham beat Portsmouth at home last Wednesday to win 1-0. They followed up that first win in seven in the league by drawing at Bolton 0-0. Burnley’s win dragged them out of the relegation zone & upto 15th in the table, such is the closeness in points in the bottom half of the table. They now play a Fulham side who have managed to steady the ship after seven games without a win in the league. I think this game will be close but Burnley’s away form will let them down again (they have managed only won point away all season). Fulham meanwhile are having a good season & this win should move them further up the table.
Result Prediction: Fulham to win a close game
Score Prediction: Fulham 2 Burnley 1
Match 2: Manchester City - Bolton: (Tuesday February 9th 7.45pm):
Manchester City had a really bad result by losing at Hull 2-1. This was their forth defeat of the season in the league (all of them away). Coupled with their league cup semi final defeat to Manchester United it has not been a good couple of weeks for the Blue half of the city. Thankfully City’s home form is good as they haven’t lost at home all season (in all competitions). They face a Bolton side who could only draw at home with Fulham on Saturday, a result which leaves them just the one point above the relegation zone. City should win this game as they won their last home game against Portsmouth 2-0. City are three points behind Liverpool in 6th place so they need a win in this game to keep up the pressure for a 4th place finish at the end of the season. They should win this game but I am not sure that they will finish 4th come the end of the season.
Result Prediction: A Manchester City win
Score Prediction: Manchester City 3 Bolton 1
Match 3: Portsmouth - Sunderland: (Tuesday February 9th 7.45pm):
Portsmouth got thrashed at Manchester United on Saturday 5-0 (I said 4-0). This was no surprise as Portsmouth decided to rest a lot of their players just like Wigan & Wolves before them. This is a disgrace as they won’t have rested any of their players against Arsenal & Chelsea away. Why does the FA or Premier League say something or even heaven forbid actually do something? They don’t because it is Manchester United & nothing upon nothing can be allowed to stop Manchester United from winning the title. Enough of the ranting & onto the game. Sunderland managed a draw at home to fellow strugglers Wigan on Saturday which was their second home draw on the trot after they had drawn at home with Stoke 0-0 on the previous Monday. Sunderland’s away form is crap & they also lost at Portsmouth in the cup 2-1 a few weeks ago. Methinks that their away form will continue & they will lose again. The victory will however not help Portsmouth in their quest to stay up.
Result Prediction: A Portsmouth win
Score Prediction: Portsmouth 2 Sunderland 1
Match 4: Wigan - Stoke: (Tuesday February 9th 7.45pm):
Wigan managed a 1-1 draw at Sunderland on Saturday, a result which says a lot about both teams recent form of late. Wigan lost their last home game 1-0 to a late Everton goal. They are now just two points off the relegation zone. They play a Stoke side who beat Blackburn 3-0 on Saturday. Stoke are on a good run & in their last away game gained a point in a 0-0 draw. Stoke have only managed one away win so far this season even though they have gained draws at Bolton, Everton, Birmingham Blackburn & of course Sunderland. I think that Stoke will go one better than the 2-2 draw between the sides earlier in the season & gain all three points which will put Wigan in even more trouble at the foot of the table.
Result Prediction: A Stoke win
Score Prediction: Wigan 1 Stoke 2
Match 5: Arsenal - Liverpool: (Wednesday February 10th 7.45pm):
Arsenal are now more or less out of the running for the Premiership title after losing on Sunday to Chelsea 2-0 (as I Predicted). This was their second defeat on the trot after losing at home to Manchester United 3-1 the previous week. They should finish in third place ahead of Liverpool. They are five points ahead of them but a victory in this game will open up a eight point lead over them. Liverpool have somehow managed to turn their league form around by climbing to forth place. They won their latest game 1-0 against Everton & are now one point ahead of Spurs who could only draw 0-0 at home with Aston Villa. It is Liverpool’s home form that is keeping them so high in the league as their away form is not very good. They could only manage a 0-0 draw at Wolves in their last away game which implies that they don’t stand much chance in this game especially as they lost to Arsenal’s reserves 2-1 in the League cup earlier in the season. Couple that with a 2-1 home defeat to the gunners before Christmas & the omens don’t look good for Liverpool. I agree. A narrow home win for Arsenal.
Result Prediction: Arsenal to win
Score Prediction: Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1
Match 6: Aston Villa - Manchester United: (Wednesday February 10th: 7.45pm):
Aston Villa gained a very good point in a 0-0 draw at Spurs on Saturday evening. Villa are still 7th but only three points off Liverpool in 4th place. Very tight it is at the top of the table as it is at the bottom. Villa as mentioned before (many times) are playing Manchester United in the League Cup Final & are also still in the FA Cup. Manchester United went top of the table on Saturday with their 5-0 win against Portsmouth reserves but were replaced by Chelsea on the Sunday after they beat Arsenal 2-0. Should be a very interesting league game between the two at Old Trafford on the 3rd April. Villa won the return fixture at old Trafford earlier in the season 1-0 & would be bloody chuffed if they could repeat that result. I think this game will be a draw which will help Villa more than United.
Result Prediction: a score draw
Score Prediction: Aston Villa 1 Manchester United 1
Match 7: Blackburn - Hull City: (Wednesday February 10th 8pm):
Blackburn lost away again on Saturday, this time at Stoke City 3-0. Thankfully for them they are a good at home & so should win this game despite Hull’s recent good form in drawing at Home with Chelsea last Wednesday & beating Manchester City 2-1 at home on Saturday. Theses four pints have lifted them out of the bottom three to 14th in the table. It is Hull’s home form that is giving them a fighting chance of staying up as they have yet to win away from home yet, they have however managed four draws at Wolves, Bolton, Manchester City & impressively Spurs a few weeks ago in their last away game. Blackburn are however a difficult side to play against & I think they will win this game.
Result Prediction: A Blackburn win
Score Prediction: Blackburn 2 Hull City 0
Match 8: Everton - Chelsea: (Wednesday February 10th 8pm):
Chelsea are back on top after losing top place to Manchester United for 24 hours. Still only one point in it though. They could only draw at Hull City last Wednesday which made you wonder if the John Terry “incident” was having an effect. Personally I don’t think so as the bloke is far to arrogant to care what he has done to be bothered. Chelsea recovered from their draw with Hull to beat Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday which effectively ended Arsenal’s title hopes. They are top but only by two points. They face an Everton side that will be really pissed off at losing at City rivals Liverpool 1-0 after Liverpool had been reduced to ten men for much of the match. Everton are however still placed in he top half of the table mainly because of their excellent run before the Liverpool game. I can see this game being very tight & as they have picked up at home by beating Burnley, Manchester City & Sunderland (without conceding a goal) recently. I think this game will be a low scoring draw but John terry will be doing his scoring off the pitch.
Result Prediction: A score draw
Score Prediction: Everton 1 Chelsea 1
Match 9: West Ham - Birmingham: (Wednesday February 10th 7.45pm):
West Ham lost at Burnley on Saturday which was a very bad result for them especially as Burnley hadn’t won for so long. West Ham have now slipped back into the bottom three. There is obviously a real threat of them going down this season. In their last home game they could only draw 0-0 at home with a Blackburn side that has a bad away record. West Ham now face a Birmingham side who are still going strong in both the League & the FA Cup. They are into the 5th round & face a weak Derby County side away on Saturday in a game they should get a result. However, they have to first play West Ham & after beating another bottom three side Wolves 2-1 on Saturday will be confident of getting a result. I agree. Bad times at Upton Park but I still think they will stay up (just).
Result Prediction: A Birmingham win
Score Prediction: West Ham 0 Birmingham 1
Match 10: Wolves - Tottenham: (Wednesday February 10th 7.45pm):
Wolves lost 2-1 at Birmingham on Sunday after taking the lead. This was a disappointing result after they had drawn their previous two games against Liverpool & away at Hull. They are back in the bottom three which will disappoint them. However, it is so close at the bottom that just one win will propel them out of the bottom three. This game will be tough for them & despite winning the return fixture 1-0 at Spurs I really can’t see them getting anything out of this game as Spurs are playing well against teams in the Bottom half of the table this season. They have won away at West Ham, Portsmouth, Blackburn & Hull City. All sides in the bottom half of the table. This game should produce win no 5 away from home for Spurs & help their bid for a top four finish.
Result Prediction: A Tottenham win
Score Prediction: Wolves 0 Spurs 2
That’s all until the weekends FA Cup Predictions.. Good luck.
