Premiership Predictions & Correct Score Football Tips for the 27th/28th February 2010

Best Predicted result(s) of the previous week: “Stoke winning only their second away win of the season 2-1 at Portsmouth (correct Score as well) & West Ham beating Hull

Last week was a very good week as I correctly predicted 8 out of 10 results & 1 Correct score. The correct score was Stoke winning 2-1 at Portsmouth which was only their second away win of the season. The only two results that didn’t go my way were Manchester United losing 3-1 at Everton (ha,ha) even though I had suspected a shock as I had predicted a draw. The only other result to not go my way was Manchester City drawing with Liverpool 0-0 after I had predicted that City would win. 8 out of ten helps my average to creep towards my season high of 57%. The average is now 53% over the season. Not bad.

Enough of the back slapping, good luck for this weekend.

Match 1: Birmingham - Wigan: (Saturday February 27th 3pm):

Birmingham lost for the third away game on the trot on Sunday, this time at Fulham 2-1. I predicted this result so I am feeling rather smug. Birmingham are however, still in the FA Cup & despite this hiccup in their away form they are still having a bloody great season, well above expectations. They won their last home game 2-1 against wolves & will be hoping for a similar result in this game against another side from the lower end of the table. Wigan lost at home to spurs on Sunday 3-0, again a result I predicted. This was not too surprising considering that Spurs of course beat Wigan 9-1 at home earlier in the season. Wigan are in serious trouble & could easily go down. It won’t help that they will lose this game which could place them in the bottom three for the first time this season.

Result Prediction: Birmingham to win

Score Prediction: Birmingham 2 Wigan 1

Match 2: Bolton - Wolves: (Saturday February 27th 3pm):

Bolton lost 3-0 at Blackburn last Sunday to keep them in the relegation places. This result keeps them in the relegation places. They have only won once under new(ish) manager Owen Coyle & that was against his former club Burnley. They need to start winning & soon. They lost at Wolves earlier in the season & a defeat in this game would be pretty bad for them. Wolves lost at home to Chelsea but they won’t have been to bothered as it is their results against teams in the lower half of the table that are important. Wolves away form is not too bad. They have won twice away from home, at Spurs & Wigan & have also drawn at Stoke, Hull & Everton. I can see them getting a draw in this game which would be a point more useful for Wolves than it would be for Bolton.

Result Prediction: A score draw

Score Prediction: Bolton 1 Wolves 1

Match 3: Burnley - Portsmouth: (Saturday February 27th 3pm):

Portsmouth look doomed. Their latest defeat at home to Stoke seems very trivia compared to their financial problems. At the time of writing they look like they are going to deducted 10 points for going into administration which of course will relegate them. I feel very sorry for the fans & nobody else. They do not deserve what is going on to their club. The people who have mismanaged their club should be made accountable but of course they won’t because the very people who should punish them are of the same type. Onto the game & Burnley should gain three points in their battle against the drop. If Burnley are too stay up it will be because of their home form as they have only lost twice at home, to Chelsea & (bizarrely) Wigan. Their away form as I have mentioned many times is appalling. Portsmouth have only won 4 times all season yet they are in the Q/F of the FA Cup. A home win.

Result Prediction: A Burnley win

Score Prediction: Burnley 2 Portsmouth 0

Match 4: Chelsea - Manchester City: (Saturday February 27th 12.45pm):

Chelsea are on a roll. They easily beat Wolves away last Saturday & because of Manchester United losing at Everton 3-1 they increased their lead at the top of the table by three points. Chelsea are unbeaten at home this season, in fact they have only dropped two points at home (a 3-3 draw with Everton). Manchester City are one of only four sides to beat Chelsea this season in the league when they beat them 2-1 before Christmas. City drew away at Stoke 1-1 in their last away game & dropped another two points when they drew at home 0-0 with Liverpool last Sunday in what was a very boring game by all accounts. Can’t really see City taking points off Chelsea in this game as they have lost four game away already this season. Defeat number five coming up methinks. .

Result Prediction: A Chelsea win

Score Prediction: Chelsea 2 Manchester City 0

Match 5: Stoke - Arsenal: (Saturday February 27th 5.30pm):

Arsenal will be looking for massive revenge in this game. They lost 2-1 at Stoke last season & were dumped out of the FA Cup in the forth Round at Stoke 3-1 in January. Stoke are a very difficult side to play against as has been proved by their progress this season. They have been in the top half of the table all season & that is where I expect them to stay. They won away at Portsmouth last Sunday which was only their second away win of the season but coupled with some very useful draws means that their away record is not as bad as some papers were making out. Arsenal beat Sunderland on Saturday but coupled with Manchester United’s defeat at Everton means that they are back in the title race, which seemed impossible after they lost 2-1 at Chelsea a few weeks ago. Only time will tell. This is a game that Arsenal need to win especially as Manchester United are playing West Ham on Tuesday night due to their involvement in the League Cup final on Sunday. A very close Arsenal win.

Result Prediction: Arsenal to win

Score prediction: Stoke 1 Arsenal 2

Match 6: Liverpool - Blackburn: (Sunday February 28th: 3pm):

Liverpool could only draw at Manchester City 0-0 which though in it self not a bad result won’t have helped them in their quest to finish forth & salvage something from a very bad season. I still can’t believe that Liverpool are even in contention for a top four place as they have lost twice at home already not to mention the six away defeats they have suffered. Their manager has only survived because he has milked the crowd for support against the very unpopular American owners who are almost certainly asset stripping the club just like the appalling “Glaziers” at Manchester United. As well as their very average league form they have been knocked out of the Champions League & The FA Cup by Lowly Championship side Reading. Blackburn’s away form is bad & it is their home form that is keeping them out of danger at the bottom end of the table. A Liverpool win as they are good at home (still) at beating lower table sides at home.

Result Prediction: a Liverpool win

Score Prediction: Liverpool 3 Blackburn 0

Match 7: Sunderland - Fulham: (Sunday February 28th 3pm):

Sunderland lost at Arsenal on Saturday & so haven’t won since before Christmas. They drew their last home game 1-1 with Wigan who are struggling as well. This is a very important game for Sunderland as they need a win & a win soon. Fulham have a bad away record having not won away since the opening day of the season when they won at Portsmouth. They have however drawn at Manchester City, Wigan & Bolton (Their last away game). It is Fulham’s home form that is keeping them in the top half of the table. They are also in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup & are still in the UEFA Cup. Sunderland of course are out of all the cup competitions. I think Sunderland’s season will turn for the better with a win in this game because I feel they are far too good to go down & besides I prefer Sunderland’s fans any day of the week compared to the idiots who are so full of themselves at Newcastle.

Result Prediction: A Sunderland win

Score Prediction: Sunderland 2 Fulham 1

Match 8: Spurs - Everton: (Sunday February 28th 1pm):

Spurs won very easily at struggling Wigan 3-0 last Sunday. With Liverpool & Manchester City cancelling each other out in a 0-0 draw they will have been very pleased in their battle to finish 4th in the table come the end of the season. Spurs have dropped some silly points at home this season, witness the defeats to Wolves & Stoke & the draw with Hull not so long ago. Everton are the form side in the Premiership at present & they proved this in style by beating Manchester United 3-1 last Saturday. This was a result for good in it’s constant battle with Evil. Everton drew at Home with Spurs earlier in the season when they came from 2-0 down to score two late second half goals. This result was what reignited Everton’s season, at least in terms of results. Both sides will play out a good game I feel but a draw will be the end result.

Result Prediction: A Score draw

Score Prediction: Spurs 2 Everton 2

That’s all until next weekends fixtures. Good luck.
