Premiership Predictions
Premiership Predictions, Correct Score Weekend Football Tips for 03 ~ 04/10/09
Hello everyone. Last Saturday I correctly predicted Seven out of ten Premiership results. The Correct predictions were Everton's win at Portsmouth, Liverpool's Thrashing of Hull, Spurs beating Burnley, Sunderland beating Wolves, Manchester City beating West Ham, Arsenal Winning at Fulham & Manchester United winning at Stoke. The Manchester United victory at Stoke (2-0) was my only correct score. I therefore got a seventy percent win rate for the weekend on Results. For the second successive week Bolton got a very late goal to deny me another correct result, their late winner scored by some Korean chap denying me a correct score as well. My Result predictions for the season is now just over 60% having not dropped below 50% all season so far.(you can decide for yourself if this good or not). On my first Champions league fixtures I correctly guessed four out of five results with just Glasgow Rangers letting me down. Enough of the self congratulating crap I hear you say, so onwards & upwards as my last girlfriend said. Here are this weekends predictions & good luck to one and all.
P.S. The graph I promised last week to show my Predictions for the season so far in percentage terms will hopefully be on the site by next weekend. Please be patient. Thanks.
1. Bolton – Tottenham: (Saturday 3pm)
Bolton & Spurs both won last Saturday. Bolton had a vital win at Birmingham last weekend which helps their plight near the foot of the table. Spurs meanwhile bounced back to form by thrashing Burnley at Home. Bolton fans are by & large not happy with their Manager Gary Megson & this is creating a pressure for them when they are playing at home (only one point in their home fixtures isn't helping either). Tottenham are playing well this season and are scoring a lot of goals as well. The comparisons in both teams League positions is there for all to see. As a consequence I feel that Bolton's bad home form will continue & Spurs will gain another away victory.
Result Prediction: Spurs to win away easily. @ 19/20 with bet365.
Score Prediction: Bolton 1 Spurs 3 @ 14/1 with bet365.
2. Burnley – Birmingham City: (Saturday 3pm)
Burnley have won all three of their home games so far & they have beaten some good sides in this mini run at home, ie, Manchester United, Everton & Sunderland. This home form is the complete opposite of their away form in which they have lost all & not even scored a goal. Birmingham lost at home to Bolton Last week, the sort of game they need to win if they are to avoid the drop. They are boring the pants of me & their fans with their defensive football. Their manager is on a losing battle & only he seems to not relisle it. Burnley to continue their excellent home form & hopefully put another nail in the Birmingham's Managers Coffin.
Result Prediction: Burnley to win at home again. @ 13/10 with bet365.
Score Prediction: Burnley 2 Birmingham 0 @ 8/1 with Coral
3. Hull City – Wigan: (Saturday 3pm)
Hull are on a dreadful run. They have only won once all season (against Bolton) & were thrashed last week 6-1 at Liverpool. This result followed their 4-0 home defeat to Everton in the League cup. Their Manager has lost the plot & much of their current problems can be traced back to when the manager dressed down his team on the pitch at half time last Boxing day against Manchester City. That was a silly thing to as it will have embarrassed and annoyed the players & this is when the manager began to lose the dressing room. Wigan shocked me & just about everyone else by beating Chelsea last week. A great result & one that they deserved. Last season they won this fixture 5-0 & that was when Hull were having a good run in the first half of the season. I am tempted to say that there might be a repeat scoreline this Saturday. An relatively easy away win for Wigan.
Result Prediction: Wigan to win away (easily) @ 6/4 with Coral
Score Prediction: Hull City 1 Wigan 4 @ 80/1 with Coral
4. Manchester United – Sunderland: (Saturday 5.30pm)
Manchester had to come from behind to beat Wolsberg on Wednesday night & like last Saturday Ryan Giggs was a massive player for them. His performance after coming on as substitute last Saturday against Stoke was there for all to see. Meanwhile Sunderland continued their impressive home form with a thumping 5-2 victory over Wolves on the Sunday. Sunderland have improved a great deal since last season but their away form is non too impressive apart from their opening day victory at Bolton. Meanwhile Manchester have not lost since their surprise defeat at Burnley (their only defeat this season). Manchester will have too much for them I'm afraid. A Home win.
Result Prediction: Manchester to win @ 1/5 with PartyBets.com
Score Prediction: Manchester United 3 Sunderland 1 @ 9/1 with PartyBets.com
5. Wolves – Portsmouth: (Saturday 3pm)
This fixture for me is a difficult one to Predict. Portsmouth's players have not been paid this week, the team haven't won at all this season, in fact they have no points at all. Gates are down & the club is looking certain to go down but they have to win at some point or at least get a draw. They played well against Everton last week & were unlucky to lose. Wolves meanwhile lost heavily at Sunderland even tough they did get the score back to 2-2 in the second half, which does show spirit. They won their last home game 2-1 against Fulham which was a vital three points. On paper they should win but because Wolves are one of those clubs who seem to get more bad luck than most I am going to go for a Away victory for Portsmouth.
Result Prediction: Away Victory for Portsmouth @ 12/5 with Coral
Score Prediction: Wolves 1 Portsmouth 2 @ 10/1 with Coral
6. Arsenal – Blackburn: (Sunday 1.30pm)
Arsenal won 2-0 in midweek in the Champions League at home. This followed their away win at Fulham last Saturday in which they owed their victory to some great goalkeeping. At home Arsenal are very strong and are beating sides with ease, 4-0 against Wigan & 4-1 against Portsmouth proves this. Blackburn had a good victory against Aston Villa last Saturday but their away form has been disappointing so far. They haven't won away yet & I expect that to continue against Arsenal who are now 5 games unbeaten in all competitions. Therefore I expect Arsenal to make it six on Sunday.
Result Prediction: Arsenal to win @ 2/9 with Coral
Score Prediction: Arsenal 3 Blackburn Rovers 0 @ 7/1 with Coral
7. Chelsea – Liverpool: (Sunday 4pm)
This is the big one as sky will say. The problem is that they are right. Chelsea bounced back from their surprise defeat at Wigan to win away in Europe 1-0 while Liverpool went down 2-0 away to Fiorentina (a result that I predicted). Liverpool have now lost three times this season in all competitions. Will Chelsea bounce back after their one & only defeat so far? Yes, because Liverpool are flattering to deceive. It is all very well to beat the lesser lights of the Premiership but you have to beat the top sides as well. They have proved this season that the minute they come up against some of the so called better sides that they get in trouble. This will continue against Chelsea on Sunday. A home win for the Russian Mafia.
Result Prediction: Chelsea to win @ 6/5 with Coral
Score Prediction: Chelsea 3 Liverpool 1 @ 18/1 with Coral
8: Everton – Stoke City: (Sunday 3pm)
Everton are on a good run. They have won five out of their last six games & four on the bounce in all competitions. Last Saturday they had a good 1-0 away win at Portsmouth. This followed a good 3-0 victory at home to Blackburn. Stoke meanwhile have lost their last two home games at home to Chelsea & Manchester United which were sandwiched between a 1-1 draw at Bolton, a game they should have won. I can see this game ending in a Stoke victory for no other reason than they have had longer to prepare than Everton who have had the distraction of a Thursday UEFA cup game. A close game though.
Result Prediction: Stoke to win @ 11/2 with Coral
Score Prediction: Everton 1 Stoke City 2 @ 25/1 with Coral
9: West Ham – Fulham: (Sunday 3pm)
This is a classic mid-table fixture. Both sides have lost their last two league games. Fulham were rather unlucky to lose last Saturday against Arsenal after they had lost at Wolves the previous week. Meanwhile, West Ham went down 3-1 at Manchester City after they had lost their previous home game 3-2 at home to Liverpool. Both sides could do with a win to halt their slide towards the relegation places. West Ham will have a slight advantage being at home & not playing in the week (Fulham played on Thursday in Europe) so this should gain them the three points but Fulham need to start winning & soon if\they are not to be dragged down into a relegation fight.
Result Prediction: West Ham to win @ 6/5 with Coral
Score Prediction: West Ham 2 Fulham 1 @ 15/2 with Coral
10: Aston Villa – Manchester City: (Monday 8pm)
Villa rather surprisingly lost at Blackburn last week despite taking an early lead. This ended a good run as they had won their last six games, four of them in the league. Their best result in that run of course being the great 3-1 win at Liverpool. Manchester City recovered well from their defeat at Old Trafford to beat West Ham 3-1 last Monday. I believe that they will come higher than Villa this season & challenge for a top four place. They have already beaten Arsenal & I expect them to put another marker down for a top four position by beating Villa in this game.
Result Prediction: Manchester City to win @ 13/8 with Coral
Score Prediction: Aston Villa 1 Manchester City 3 @ 25/1 with Coral
Well that's all for this week folks. Good luck & see you all next week.
