Premiership Predictions
Premiership Predictions & Correct Scores for the 5th May 2010 by Doug Martin
Best Predicted result(s) of the previous weekend: “Chelsea winning at Liverpool & Fulham beating West Ham”
Hi everybody. This is a short article for the two midweek games tonight. Last weekend I managed 4 out of 10 correct results. Those were Chelsea winning at Liverpool, Fulham beating West Ham, Birmingham beating Burnley & Spurs beating Bolton. Not as good as the previous weekend but my average will still end around 53% for the season. You judge if that is good or not? Onto these two midweek games & one of them, Manchester City - Spurs is very important in the battle for 4th place.
Good luck & see you all tomorrow for the final Premiership Fixtures of the season.
Match 1: Fulham - Stoke City: (Wednesday 1st May: 8pm):
Stoke & Fulham have both had a good season with both finishing safely in mid table. Fulham have gone one better than Stoke in reaching the UEFA Cup Final, which is a fantastic achievement as it is their first appearance in Europe (I think). They now face Atletico Madrid in the final who beat Liverpool in their Semi final on the away goals rule. Fulham recovered well from their semi final win over Hamburg last Sunday to beat West Ham 3-2 on Sunday (as I predicted). It was a good game, which is also what I predicted. West were already safe & that must have helped towards the entertainment value. Stoke meanwhile drew 0-0 at home with Everton in a very end of season game by the looks of the scoreline. Stoke have also had a good season much improving on the previous season. I think that Fulham will have the edge in this game despite Stoke having a good away record this season, apart from of course their 7-0 thrashing at Chelsea in their away game. A home win for Fulham to put them in a good mood for their European Final.
Result Prediction: Fulham to win
Score Prediction: Fulham 2 Stoke 0
Match 2: Manchester City - Spurs: (Wednesday 5th May: 8pm):
City knocked out Aston Villa in the battle for a 4th place finish on Saturday with a 3-1 win. It is now down to Manchester City & Spurs who now meet in this game before the last games at the weekend. They are separated by just the one point. So close is it in the table. Spurs beat City earlier in the season & a similar result in this game would be very welcome for them as it would confirm them a 4th place finish. City will be much cheered by their 3-1 win over Villa. City have only lost twice at home this season, to Everton & Manchester United while Spurs have won away at Stoke, Blackburn, Wigan, Portsmouth, West Ham, Hull but none of these clubs have finished in the top ten of the Premiership so that would suggest that Spurs are at best only capable of gaining a draw. City have a good home record with wins over Arsenal, Chelsea & Villa. This would suggest that City will win. I agree but it will be close & I suspect it will also be very tense for the players & the fans.
Result Prediction: A Manchester City win
Score Prediction: Manchester City 2 Spurs 1
That’s all until tomorrow when I will have the final predictions for the final Premiership fixtures of the season.
