Premiership Predictions
Premiership Predictions ~ Preview for the opening day of the season: 2009/10
Hello everyone, how was your summer break away from the Madness of football? With no major international tournament this summer it was pretty boring. Anyway, I digress. How we go with my predictions for the opening day of the season:
1. Blackburn – Manchester City
Manchester city as everyone knows are now the richest club in the land. They have brought some impressive players in the pre season but it will take time for the team to gel & this will prevent them from reaching the top four. This is good if like me you can’t stand the big three, i.e., Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea. I think City will just fail to get into the top four this season but not the next. Blackburn I feel will struggle in the bottom half again this season but will just have enough to stay up. A shame they can’t get rid of their manager & they might become more popular. They will lose their opening game to city.
2-0 to Manchester City.
2. Chelsea – Hull City
Hull stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season which annoyed a lot of people who were fed up with seeing their smug manager Phil Brown talking complete crap after games. This season I feel they will go down which is a shame really as they did the football world a service by relegating Newcastle & their “I’m from Newcastle & I’m special” fans”. Chelsea are my tip to win the premiership this season & I expect them to get off to a winning start against Hull on sat. In fact I feel it will be a very easy win for them.
3-0 to Chelsea
3. Everton – Arsenal
Everton did well last season to reach the cup final & finish a strong fifth ahead of Aston Villa who at one point had looked like coming forth ahead of Arsenal. This season will be hard for Everton to repeat, such is the demands of the Premiership (Can I call it the 1st Division? – “NO” – Ed). Arsenal had a poor start but finished strongly to claim the final champions league place. Arsenal have their usual crop of youngsters coming through and it will be interesting to see how they progress. I like both clubs as they are properly run & they both have genuine fan bases. This alone does not buy you success. If only it did?
A 2-2 draw
4. Tottenham – Liverpool
Liverpool were not that good last season but somehow finished 2nd. Spurs recovered well after a dreadful start to finish around mid-table. Liverpool will not win the title this season or any other as long as their manager is in charge. Not that I am saying he is arrogant & hopeless….Spurs are another team I don’t mind as they have proper support but their manager makes me feel sick as he is so bent. Spurs will come around 8th this season but are a good bet for the League cup. Liverpool will come 3rd (somehow). This means a draw is your best bet for Sunday’s game.
A 1-1 Draw
5. Manchester United – Birmingham City
A nice easy start for Manchester, what a surprise. Who says that the FA bends over backwards for them? This is the easiest game of the weekend’s fixtures to predict but it would be bloody wonderful if Birmingham won. Birmingham will struggle this season & I predict their manager will be out of a job by Christmas. They will have a poor start, starting at “The theatre of Crap” on sat. A shame as I like Blue’s fans. A good working class support. Pity their board doesn’t seem to realise this and make their prices lower so that more of them could support their team. Corporate greed again methinks? Hopefully Ronaldo leaving will enable to Manchester to have a crap season but I am sure they will find someone else to dive in the penalty box.
3-0 to Manchester
Good luck and see you next week.
