Premiership Predictions
Premiership Predictions ~ Preview for August 22nd - 24th 2009
I correctly guessed that Manchester United & Chelsea would win last weekend but not by such close margins. My major Premiership Predictions success was the correct result and score in the Blackburn Rovers Manchester City game. The one I really got wrong was Everton Arsenal as I said it would be a draw but Arsenal proved me way out by thrashing Everton six one. I also got spurs Liverpool wrong as I said that it would be a draw but as Liverpool lost I am not too bothered. Onto the Weekend Football Tips major fixtures.
1. 1.Arsenal – Portsmouth
This is one of the easiest fixtures to predict this season as Arsenal have started like a train & Portsmouth haven't even got out of the station yet, esp after their very bad one nil defeat at home to Portsmouth on the opening day. Arsenal Followed up their six one win at Everton with a very impressive 2-0 win at Celtic in the Champions League qualifier 1st leg on Tuesday night. God help Celtic for the second leg. Arsenal to win this one and win it easily. Don't bother going to the game if you are a Portsmouth Fan.
4-0 to Arsenal @ 9/1 with bet365.
2. Wigan Athletic – Manchester United
This is again an easy fixture to predict. Wigan had a good win at Aston Villa on the opening day but messed up at home to Wolves on Tuesday night by losing 1-0. This was a bit of a shock result for me as I didn't see Wolves getting anything from that game. Manchester United meanwhile will have played at Burnley on Wednesday night (a game I expect them to have won) and will have six points after their narrow one nil win against Birmingham City on the opening Sat, err, Sunday. An easy two nil win for Manchester & an easy game for the legions of their part time dicks to get a ticket but of course they won't.
2-0 to Manchester United @ 11/2 with Coral
3. Manchester City – Wolves
Here is a difficult game to call. City had an excellent start to the season winning at Blackburn but Wolves recovered from their defeat to West Ham to beat Wigan in midweek. I have a feeling City will let themselves down and draw. This would be typical City in terms of their history in the last 30 odd years. So, one all and Wolves to snatch a late goal and good to see them back in the top flight as well. Proper fans as well as a bloody good fanzine called “A load of Bull”...
A 1-1 draw @ 9/1 with Coral
4. Fulham – Chelsea
Another good old cockney knees up in London but not at this game I suspect. Chelsea didn't play that well in beating Hull last sat but did really well in coming back from a 1-0 nil HT deficit to beat Sunderland 3-1 in the week. Chelsea might not play the best football but they are really good at grinding sides down and getting results. Fulham did really well last season and had some good results against the so called big four beating both Arsenal & Manchester United at home. A close game but Chelsea to grind out a two one win with a late winner. Now where is that cockney knees up taking place, oh yeah, that's right..Upton Park.
2-1 to Chelsea @ 15/2 with PartyBets.com
5. Liverpool – Aston Villa
Liverpool play Aston Villa on Monday night for the pleasure of the TV. Should make all their part-time fans down the pub happy. Despite losing to Spurs on the opening day I expect Liverpool to have beaten stoke on Wednesday night and further improve with a draw against the Villa. Seriously, I expect a draw in this one. In my point of view Liverpool are a spent force under their current manager and the cracks are going to start showing. Villa meanwhile had a bad start against Wigan on the opening day but they have a really good manager and will bounce back, starting with this game.
A 2-2 draw @ 20/1 with Coral
Good luck for the Weekend Football Tips this Sat.
