So You Think

The Dubai World Cup has received a big boost with the news that the high-class middle distance performer So You Think has been given an entry into the world's richest race scheduled for the Meydan circuit on March 31, writes Elliot Slater.
The former Australian superstar enjoyed a mainly successful first season under the guidance of Aidan O'Brien having carried all before him Down Under where he proved an irresistible force in Group 1 company between seven and ten furlongs. It was his undoubted class that saw So You Think also go close when stepping up beyond that distance to two-miles for the first time in the 2010 Emirates Melbourne Cup, a race in which he carried a big weight into a gallant third place behind the French star Americain. People following the best horse racing betting odds online will have still been impressed.
Ballydoyle have so far refused to comment on just how likely the prospect is of seeing the son of High Chapparal tackle the $10 million race, but should he be confirmed an intended runner there is little doubt that So You Think would be installed very close to favouritism given his profile last term.
After winning on his first two outings for O'Brien (including the Group 1 Curragh Cup in May), the imposing six-year-old had looked home and hosed in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot only to tie up in the last 100 yards and be caught on the line by the ill-fated Rewilding. After that race O'Brien blamed himself for the defeat saying he had not given the horse enough work prior to the contest. A brave half-length victory over Derby winner Workforce in the Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown was followed by another win by the same margin over Snow Fairy in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown in September, before finishing fourth in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and then second in the Champion Stakes to Cirrus des Aigles.
Almost certainly a tired horse, So You Think ended the term finishing sixth to Drosselmeyer in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs in November on his final outing of the campaign.
