Football Qualifiers ~ World Cup Group Fixture Predictions for the “Home Nation Teams” 10th & 14th October 2009: (The Last round of Games)
Hello Everyone. My last World Cup Predictions went pretty well. I correctly predicted 5 out of 7 results. I said that England would win their Friendly against Slovenia as well as the Vital World Cup Qualifier against Croatia. What I didn’t expect was that they would beat Croatia so convincingly but who cares as we are now there & I just can’t wait until we go out at the quarter final stage on penalties. I correctly Predicted that Scotland would lose to Holland thus ending their World cup dreams. I also Correctly Predicted that Northern Ireland would draw in Poland but they lost to Slovakia which ruined my prediction of them winning. The Republic didn’t let me down though as they won in Cyprus which, of course, is what I said they would do.
We now enter the final straight in qualifying games & it will be interesting to see who will join England in South Africa. I predicted right at the start of the Qualifying games that Northern Ireland & the Republic would join England. Lets see if I am proved right.

2. England - Belarus: (Wednesday 14th October 8pm):
This is a tough one in that England have nothing to play for since they have now qualified. On the other hand Ukraine have to win & if they do then they will be in pole position to take second place ahead of Croatia who only have one game left as apposed to Ukraine’s two. I think that England are on such a high at present that they will avoid defeat but the big question is weather they will win the game? I am going to stick my neck out and go for an England victory but it will be close. On the Wednesday England finish their group games with an easy home game against minnows Belarus who are out of the running for a world cup spot (big surprise). This being their last competitive game before next summer I expect them to win well.
Result Prediction: England to win both games
Score Prediction: Ukraine 1 England 2
Score Prediction: England 5 Belarus 0
4. Republic of Ireland - Montenegro: (Wednesday 14th October 7pm)
This is the big one in group 8. Italy only need a draw in this game to guarantee qualification. The republic are almost assured of second place & therefore a Play-off spot as they only have Montenegro to play after this game. I correctly guessed that Ireland would draw in Italy earlier in the campaign and I think this game will again be a draw which will be enough for both sides, providing that Montenegro don’t upset the apple cart on the Wednesday. As to weather the Republic will qualify through the playoff system you are going to have to wait as I haven’t got a spare week to work out how FIFA have planned the draw for the playoff games? A nervy game in Dublin & a reasonably easy victory on the Wednesday then for the Irish. Let’s hope they play Northern Ireland in the World Cup if they both manage to get there.
Result Prediction: The Republic to Draw with Italy on Saturday & to beat Montenegro on the Wednesday.
Score Prediction: Republic 1 Italy 1
Score Prediction: Republic 2 Montenegro 0
Northern Ireland’s last game is a very difficult game as they are away to one of the sides who they are in competition with to gain second place in the group, the other being Poland. Slovakia are playing Slovenia at home & Northern Ireland will be hoping that they can do them a favour as a victory for Slovenia will end Northern Ireland’s hopes. It is Looking very bad as Northern Ireland’s game in the Czech Republic will be tough. The Big problem is that Slovenia have a game in hand and that is against San Marino. So, even if they win & Slovenia lose, then it will be goal difference and no I have not worked it out yet!!!! Good Luck to the Lads but I fear it will be too late. A defeat for Northern Ireland to end a brave campaign.

Score Prediction: Czech Republic 2 Northern Ireland 1
Wales Play their last game against Finland away but it has been over for the Welsh boys for some time. This is a shame. there are so many problems affecting Welsh football (International at least) that it would take a couple of pages to list them all. A shame as their Football fans & population deserve better.
